Burghound.com: (from Chambolle, Vosne and Flagey fruit). A discreet touch of wood sets off wonderfully fresh aromas of red currant, plum and earth. There is a sleeker mouthfeel to the equally vibrant and nicely delineated flavors that culminate in a dusty, focused and solidly complex finish that also flashes almost no rusticity. Lovely ! Antonio Galloni's Vinous.com: 89-91/100. The maiden 2017 Vosne-Romanée Sélection Pre-Colombière comes from three vineyards, all located in the heart of the village. This has more depth of fruit on the nose than the regular Village Cru, featuring raspberry, cranberry and light mineral notes. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry, more substance than the regular cuvée and firm grip on the structured finish. Fine.
Burghound.com: (a creative cuvée name that combines parts of the following vineyards: Le Pré de la Folie, La Colombière and Aux Communes; 70% whole clusters). A slightly more elegant and even spicier nose reflects notes of cool and admirably pure aromas of red cherry and raspberry along with Asian-style tea scents. There is a really lovely texture to the restrained and sophisticated middle weight flavors that offer fine intensity on the complex, sneaky long and firmly structured finish. This is a very promising Vosne villages that will need a few years. (89-92)/2025+
Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 'Les Charmes' 2017 € 79.00 (vanaf 01/11 € 90.00)
Antonio Galloni's Vinous.com: 90-92/100. The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru has a fine degree of transparency and definition on the nose of perfumed red cherry and crushed strawberry; hints of blueberry surface with aeration. The oak is nicely integrated here. The palate is sappy on the entry, offering darker fruit than the nose suggests, touches of blood orange and cassis and a hint of menthol right on the finish. Delicious, and it should drink not so long after bottling.
Burghound.com: This is arguably the most elegant wine in the range with its restrained and ultra-pure essence of red cherry, raspberry and discreet floral nuances. The energetic and beautifully well-delineated barely mediumbodied flavors possess a beguiling mouthfeel, all wrapped in a saline, focused and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is firm enough to reward up to a decade of cellaring yet not so firm as to be unapproachable young. (90-93)/2025+
Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru 'Aux Cras' 2017 € 79.00 (vanaf 01/11 € 90.00)
Antonio Galloni's Vinous.com: 91-93/100. The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Cras 1er Cru, which used to be blended into the Les Boudots, has a detailed, crushed-stone-scented bouquet that feels very focused and sophisticated. The palate is medium-bodied, with sappy red fruit, hints of brown spice and leather, and quite long and deep in the mouth. The finish seems to fan out with confidence. Excellent !
Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru 'Les Suchots' 2017 € 79.00 (vanaf 01/11 € 90.00)
Antonio Galloni's Vinous.com: 90-92/100. Contains 70% whole bunch fruit. It has a charming red cherry and crushed strawberry bouquet with fine delineation. The medium-bodied palate offers supple tannin, a fine bead of acidity and pretty tart red fruit.
Burghound.com: (from 40+ year old vines; 70% whole clusters). A cool, spicy and fresh combination consists of plenty of floral influences to the pretty red and dark pinot, Asian-tea and sandalwood aromas. There is exceptional richness to the notably more concentrated flavors that offer good length depth on the mocha-infused finish. My projected range assumes that more complexity will develop with time in bottle as this wine has an excellent track record in that regard. (90-92)/2025+
Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru 'Les Brulées' 2017 € 99.00 (vanaf 01/11 € 115.00)
Antonio Galloni's Vinous.com: 91-93/100. The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru has a little more complexity and precision on the nose compared to the Les Suchots, displaying scents of raspberry, strawberry and Swiss roll. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannin and gentle grip. Quite linear, but shows more substance on the finish compared to the Les Suchots. Very fine !
Burghound.com: (70% whole clusters). A more restrained but equally pretty nose speaks of spiced liqueur-like aromas of various dark berries including cassis, plum and orange pekoe tea. There is a really lovely sense of vibrancy to the more mineral-detailed flavors that are blessed with even more mid-palate density before concluding in a firm, serious and beautifully persistent finale. This well-balanced effort should reward a decade plus of cellaring. (91-93)/2027+
Echezeaux Grand Cru 2017 € 120.00 (vanaf 01/11 € 135.00)
Antonio Galloni's Vinous.com: 92-94/100. Blended with 70% whole bunches and around 40% new oak. There is impressive volume on the nose, which features engaging red currant, crushed strawberry, quince and light peony aromas that gain intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip on the entry and fine mineralité . Nicely poised, with superb tension on the finish. Yes, there is real intensity here !
Burghound.com: (from Les Quartiers de Nuits; 70% whole clusters). An admirably discreet application of wood sets off the exotically spiced aromas of purple fruit, tangerine peel and Asian spice box scented nose. The mocha-inflected medium weight plus flavors are impressively rich and caressing yet deliver impressive power on the compact, linear and built to age finale. (91-93)/2029+
